There are 3 steps that form the basis of Salsa, 'The Basic', The 'Rumba' and 'The Mambo'. Master these and you can free your mind to concentrate on learning  something more challenging!

The Basic Step

The Basic  Step is a simple step where the man and woman hold hands and step backwards away from each other on one foot and then the other. While the man moves his left foot the woman is moving her right foot. After returning to the starting position the action is repeated with the other foot.

The Rumba Step

This a sideways step. The man leads with his left foot stepping lightly to the left. The woman mirrors this movement with her right. After returning to the starting position the action is then repeated in the opposite direction. Don't forget to move your hips when you Rumba!

The Mambo Step

This is a forwards backwards step. The man leads stepping forward on his left foot. The woman steps back on her right. After returning to the starting position the action is repeated with the other foot. Don't forget to move your hips when you mambo!
